Ms. Jarrett, it takes two to tango.

In an interview with George Stephanopoulos this past Sunday, Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor and confidant of the President, blamed Pres. Obama’s failure to fulfill his promise to bridge the partisan divide on Republicans:

STEPHANOPOULOS: And our polling shows that this partisan divide persists on issue after issue after issue. Why has that core promise of the president’s campaign, healing the divide, gone unfulfilled?

JARRETT: Well, you should ask that question to the Republican Party.

She went on to say that Pres. Obama has constantly “reached across the aisle.”

That’s true.  We all remember his answer to Republican concerns over his stimulus package in January: “I won. So I think on that one, I trump you.”

And the way he has answered critics of Democrats’ healthcare reform, not by debunking their claims, but simply calling them liars, and accusing them of bickering.

So he has been reaching an open hand across the aisle, but only to give open-handed slaps.

We agree, Ms. Jarrett, it’s all the Republicans’ fault.

Using Tax Money to Push President’s Agenda

Scandal is brewing here, and Valerie Jarrett is in the center of it.

From the San Francisco Examiner:

Buried in the interior appropriations bill headed to President Barack Obama’s desk is a big spending increase for a controversial agency that his White House staff aims to use as artistic cover for creating political propaganda. National Endowment for the Arts spending goes from $155 million to $167.5 million, the most since the Clinton administration.

A mere $12 million in a budget with $1.4 trillion in deficits might seem trifling. But documents obtained by Judicial Watch via a Freedom of Information Act request leave no doubt that Obama aides meant to put those tax dollars to work paying “artists” to create posters and other propaganda paraphernalia supporting the Obama agenda.

As The Washington Examiner reported Friday, the documents made public by Judicial Watch include a series of e-mails from White House Associate Director of Public Engagement Kalpen Modi, whose boss is Valerie Jarrett, director of the Office of Public Engagement and a close Obama confidant. Modi worked with then-NEA Communications Director Yosif Sargant planning an Aug. 10 telephone conference call hosted by Sargant.

The purpose of the call, moderator Michael Skolnik said at the outset, was to encourage participants “to get involved in things that we’re passionate about, as we did during the campaign, but continue to get involved in those things, to support the president’s initiatives.” Skolnik, political director for hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, told conference participants that he was asked “by people in the White House and folks in the NEA” to organize the call, which was joined by officials representing 21 arts groups around the country.

Judicial Watch unearthed e-mails between Sargant, Modi and Buffi Wicks, deputy director of the White House Public Engagement Office. Wicks campaigned for Obama in Missouri in 2008 and before that worked for an ACORN-like activist group known as Wake-Up Wal-Mart that was funded by the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.

Use of government time, equipment and facilities in planning the conference call may violate the Anti-Lobbying Act, which says “no part of the money appropriated by any enactment of Congress shall, in the absence of express authorization by Congress, be used directly or indirectly to pay for any personal service, advertisement, telegram, telephone, letter, printed or written matter, or other device, intended or designed to influence in any manner a member of Congress, a jurisdiction, or an official of any government, to favor, adopt, or oppose by vote or otherwise, any legislation, law, ratification, policy, or appropriation.”

Sargant resigned from the NEA following disclosure of the Aug. 10 conference call. Why are Modi and Wicks still on the White House payroll?

Who is Valerie Jarrett?

For those of you who have heard her name thrown around but are still wondering who exactly she is, I have put together this quick fact sheet on her.  I hope this helps answer some questions.

According to the University of Chicago Medical Center in 2006:

Valerie Jarrett joined the Habitat Company, a real estate development and management company, in 1995. Before that, she served for eight years in City of Chicago government posts, first as Deputy Corporation Counsel for Finance and Development, then as Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley in 1991 and finally, as Commissioner of the Department of Planning and Development from 1992 through 1995.

From 1995 to 2003, Jarrett served as Chair of the Chicago Transit Board, the body that oversees the business of the Chicago Transit Authority, the provider of public transportation service to 1.5 million people in the City of Chicago and 38 suburbs. She is Chair of the board of the Chicago Stock Exchange and vice chair of the executive council of Metropolis 2020. She also serves on the board of directors for the USG Corporation, RREEF America II, Navigant Consulting, Inc., The Local Initiative Support Corporation, The Joyce Foundation and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. She also is president of the board of the Southeast Chicago Commission.

Jarrett is also a member of the board of trustees of the Museum of Science and Industry and Window to the World Communications Inc. She served as finance chair for the 2004 campaign for now U.S. Sen. Barack Obama and was the first treasurer for Obama’s PAC, the Hopefund.

A lifelong resident of Chicago’s South Side, Jarrett attended the University of Chicago’s Laboratory Schools before going on to receive a B.A. in Psychology from Stanford University in 1978 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1981. In January, Jarrett gave the keynote address at the University’s celebration of the birthday of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Her mother, Barbara Bowman (A.M., 52), taught in the Laboratory Schools while earning her graduate degree in Education. Jarrett’s father, James Bowman, is Professor Emeritus in Pathology and Medicine and the College. He is also the namesake for the University’s Bowman Society Lecture Series, which focuses on topics important to the health care of minority communities and supports diversity at the University.

Valerie Jarrett’s Appearance on ABC

Here is the video of Valerie Jarrett’s appearance on ABC’s This Week where she attacks the GOP:

Who is Obama’s Rasputin in the White House?

Bill Smith, ARRA News Service: Who influences President Obama? I am sure that many would like to lay claim to influencing the president. In recent days, we have had seen reports on the Obama czars. Czars may have the ear of the President but in fact, they are really carrying out the agenda of the President. Even though the czars provide insight into the beliefs, values and associations of President Barack Obama, they are not the power brokers. We already know about David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel. But who is the “Rasputin” in the White House with significant influence on President Obama, his wife and his policies? One person, Valarie Jarrett, has become a significant person of interest. . . . Valerie Jarrett Decrying “extreme” GOP

From Michelle Malkin:

Yes, the woman who bragged about recruiting Marxist rabble-rouser Van Jones is lambasting conservatives for spurning radical leftist ACORN/Big Labor embracer Dede Scozzafava:

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that the rise of a Conservative Party challenger in a closely watched upstate New York House election shows that the Republican Party leadership is “becoming more and more extreme, and more and more marginalized.”

“It’s rather telling when the Republican Party forces out a moderate Republican and it says, I think, a great deal about where the Republican Party leadership is right now,” Jarrett said when asked about the GOP candidates’ decision to suspend her campaign, making it more likely the Conservative will win Tuesday’s special election.

No, Ms. Jarrett, you will not be allowed to dictate what “moooooderate” Republicanism is.

There is nothing moderate about Scozzafava.

And there is nothing mainstream about you.

Just speaking truth to power.

Obama’s Housing Policy

Check out what happened in this former Housing project in Obama’s old State Senator district which was managed by Valerie Jarrett:

The Boston Globe reported on this in June of 2008:

Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to Obama’s presidential campaign and a member of his finance committee. Jarrett is the chief executive of Habitat Co., which managed Grove Parc Plaza from 2001 until this winter and co-managed an even larger subsidized complex in Chicago that was seized by the federal government in 2006, after city inspectors found widespread problems.

Interesting. The above video shows exactly what Jarrett is–a slumlord.

Valerie Jarrett: “Lapping for Action”

From Carter Clews of Americans for Limited Government:

Who is Valerie Jarrett? It’s a question gaining increasing interest in the conservative blogosphere. And even some members of the mainstream media are starting to take a second look at this woman who has earned the sobriquet “Obama’s eminence gris.”

Indeed, in the Obama household, Valerie Jarrett is considered nothing less than a member of the family. Asked about his unique relationship with the shadowy Ms. Jarrett, Obama told the London Independent’s Robert Draper, “Well, Valerie is one of my oldest friends. Over time, I think our relationship evolved to the point where she’s like a sibling to me … I trust her completely.’

Added Michelle to the Chicago Tribune’s Jodi Kantor, “She’s always one of the people he and I talk to when we’re about to make a move.”

So, who is this pseudo sister, this Obama alter-ego, this sounding board with sign-off stature who has become the power behind the Obama throne?

Simply put: Valerie Jarrett is a radical leftist with a rapacious appetite for power and wealth. In Richard Daley’s Chicago, she was the turn-to person for flexing muscles, padding pockets, and covering tracks. In Barack Obama’s Washington, she is the single advisor most responsible for both for originating and orchestrating his most brazen attempts to impose what many see as a socialist regime upon the American people.

Valerie Jarrett and Van Jones

Who recruited the former Green Jobs Czar Van Jones?  Look no further than Valerie Jarrett.

The video is from a couple months back, but this is telling.  Valerie Jarrett has not been called out for her connections to these “Radicals”.

Appointment Watch: Valerie Jarret

The mainstream media continue to ignore President Obama’s appointment of bizarre personnel to run the government. Personnel is policy. That being the case the American people need to know about these appointments. This week we look at another Obama appointee. These are not isolated incidents or an occasional bad apple. These folks are representative of the appointments he is making with little or no push back from the Senate during the confirmation process.

Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Liaison

  • Most of the press coverage of Jarrett has been favorable, but many are not aware of the problems in her background.
  • Jarrett is feared because of her close personal relationship with the President and the power that comes from this relationship.
  • Jarrett at a salary of over $300,000 a year ran a property management company that mismanaged housing units allowing conditions like sewage backups and rodent problems to occur. She commented that it is hard to manage something you don’t own.
  • Jarrett was appointed to her position, which does not require Senate confirmation, early in the Obama Administration.

We will be covering all of the above information over the coming days.
